Troubleshooting your system
A. General Testing
A.1 The pump cycles but does not build any pressure.
- The Water Supply Valve is closed. Open the water supply valve.
- If equipped with a test fluid reservoir, check that the reservoid is at least 3/4 full.
- The Drain Valve is open. Close the drain valve tightly.
- Foreign substances are inside the check valve. Remove the pump and check valves to clean out seals and replace o-rings
A.2 The pump continues to cycle under pressure.
- Possible leak from component being tested. Check component for leaks.
- Possible leak in portable pump piping. Check hydrostatic pump fittings and tubing for leaks.
- Possible faulty pump check valve seals. Remove the pump and check valves to clean out seals and replace o-ring seals.
- Possible leak of the test plate area. Ensure the o-ring seals are seated properly.
- Check for clogged filters.
A.3 Excessive water coming from pump muffler.
- Insufficient shop air pressure. Check the air pressure supply. A minimum of 100 PSI is required.
- Possible damaged pressure gauge. Check pressure gauge for proper functioning.
- Check for clogged filters.
A.4 The pump cannot reach maximum rated test pressure.
- Insufficient shop air pressure. Check the air pressure supply. A minimum of 100 PSI is required.
- Possible damaged pressure gauge. Check pressure gauge for proper functioning.
- Check for clogged filters.
A.5 Gauges do not display correct pressure.
- Check calibration of old gauges.
- Check for leaks connecting to the gauges.
B. Hydraulic
B.1 Hydraulic pressure does not reach the necessary clamping pressure.
- Check if the hydraulic tank reservoir is at least half full.
- Check for any possible leaks of hydraulic fluid in the system.
- Possible leak or malfunction of the hydraulic pump.
B.2 Hydraulic clamping arms will not move.
- Many clamping systems need to be lubricated to provide smooth clamping adjustments.
C. Electrical
C.1 The system will not power on.
- Check all electrical connections. Make sure the voltage specified in your Technical Manual is being supplied.
D. Data Acquisition System
D.1 The data acquisition software does not display the correct pressure of the test system.
- The data acquisition software does not display the correct pressure of the test system.
Change the communication ports within the data acquisition software settings. See the DAQ manual for more details.
